MuchLoved’s Head of Partnerships, Sally Swann, recently attended a funeral and reflected on how tribute pages can add to the occasion.
“The family had compiled a selection of photos and music for the visual tribute and the celebrant commented on the time they had spent choosing which memories to share,” said Sally.

“Straight after I felt was the perfect opportunity for the tribute page to be introduced, not just for collecting donations but also to ask funeral guests to share their memories through it. People attending had known the deceased at different times of her life and I'm certain had memories to share which the family wouldn't have previously been aware of. How lovely would it be for the family to read all of those stories in the days after the funeral.”
A Muchloved tribute page can be integrated into the funeral service by including a QR code, or unique link, on the order of service to direct people to the tribute page. Do encourage the officiant to invite guests to share their own stories and photos for the benefit of the family.
Sally said, “MuchLoved tributes offer so much more than a funeral notice and donation processing service. By making tributes part of the funeral, you can provide a valuable bereavement space for family and friends.”
Practical elements of the MuchLoved service
MuchLoved partners have the option to add a tribute owner for each page that they create. This gives the family access to the tribute settings so they can manage the page going forwards. For instance, they can:

Pages can stay active for ever. Overtime, family and friends might want to organise or participate in events to benefit a charity in memory of their loved one. The tribute events feature means families can create a hub for information on their event. And events don’t need to be for fundraising, for instance they may want to share details of a memorial walk or picnic.
Tribute owners and visitors can share the tribute by clicking the share button on the front of the tribute. There is a QR code and unique link, as well as links for easy sharing via email, WhatsApp or social media.
Sharing a tribute and funeral details is also easy for funeral directors. From the MuchLoved Partner Area, you can download a QR code to send to your printer for the order of service. SMS sharing means you can send key information to individual contacts with a personalised message.

Another feature of the MuchLoved Partner Area is the Reports tab. We offer a suite of easy to use reports, providing information relating to the tributes created and donations raised. For instance you can see the tributes created by each branch and the activity for each tribute, showing how the family have used it. You can see the donations raised through each branch and which charities have received most money, which can be useful for local promotion.
Six weeks after funeral, the funeral details can automatically be archived and moved from the tribute homepage to the galleries. At the same time, a set of donation reports becomes available which you can send to the family if you wish. Partners can receive an alert to inform them when each funeral has closed.

MuchLoved is proud to partner with GriefChat, which provides a safe online space for bereaved people to be supported by a qualified bereavement counsellor.
