Connecting with your Families this Father’s Day

5 June 2023

Father’s Day can be incredibly difficult when you’re grieving, especially if you’ve recently lost a father, father figure or a child. We know you want to offer your families all the support you can, but how?

Social media provides a great way to communicate with your clients. However, deciding what to say can often be tricky, especially around such a difficult topic.

We’ve come up with some suggestions of what you can post to connect with your families and prospective clients on social media. It’s a great opportunity to show how you support your clients and helps demonstrate your expertise and values as a business.

Top tip: We discuss all the types of social posts you can share and more in our MuchLoved Module on social media with our Marketing Manager Bex. So if you’re a MuchLoved partner, don’t forget to visit the support site for the replay!

Suggested Social Media Posts

1. Write a blog about coping with Father’s Day – and share it across your social feeds. Showing your expertise like this can be a great way to build trust in your business. It doesn’t have to be very long; simple is often better. Alternatively, you could share our latest public blog about grieving on Father’s Day – we won’t mind (though please tag and credit us appropriately!).

  1. Share the ways you can help families through this difficult period. It can be especially tough if a family has lost a father or father figure at this time of year. What can you do when planning a service to help them now? Are there any readings or songs you would recommend? Do you recommend any extra touches that might help? Anything that can make the experience easier for one family could be worth sharing with many more.
  1. Can you connect your families with a counsellor? Do you offer your families GriefChat online counselling through your website? This might be an ideal opportunity to explore and promote it through your website. This not only helps to support your families but can also boost your website visits.
  1. Thank you cards or messages can provide a steer on what families can expect. This can be very reassuring for a potential client. Share an online review, or a picture of a card you’ve received from a family, to show how much care you offer to your clients. This can put potential clients at ease, especially if it’s another family who have lost a father too. (Be sure to remove any private contact information of course).
  1. Share the ways a tribute page can help support a grieving family at this time of year. We’ve got a number of options that can help here. Share how you can light a candle on Father’s Day, add a Father’s Day virtual gift, or uploading some photos to remember him on the day. We’ve also created six new social images for you to use in these posts – so it’s all done for you. Just visit the social media section of our support site to download them.

Top tip: Respond to any comments or questions on your posts as soon as possible. It’s another chance to show how committed you are to your clients, and that they can come to you for any advice and support they need.

And finally, don’t forget that you can use MuchLoved to connect with clients – particularly recent ones. For example, you could light a candle on a page for a family that has lost their Dad recently. You could even leave a virtual gift to let the family know you’re thinking about them. These simple steps can build long-term connections with a family, ensuring they think highly of you for years and generations to come.
